TOC

I just sent a post and it got lost in transit...so annoying...i'll try to reproduce..

I have read a host of books recently and they have had the most rewarding impact on me and i would love to share same with you.

I beleive we can never go through as much experience as we would need in life or to have as much knowlegde in all aspects of our life....this we could learn when we read books, we glean from the experiences of others and also their thoughts which can really be rewarding most times.

I had a chat with my younger sister recently and i told her i would love to teach people how to think (wierd hun!)...Well following from the theory of connectionism, you would realise we naturally dont use our brains as effectively as it could be used much more we could capitalise on what we know and turn it to a strenght

The Theory of Constraints (TOC) seeks to exploit the constraint in a system, structure and or organisation to get the best out of it. Its observed that the most that can be goten is to work through the constraint. The first thing to do is to identify the constraint, exploit it and then elevate the constraint....the whole idea is to be able to objectively communicate commonsense in solving problems.

There are certain beliefs and platforms this draws its strenght from

1. That local optimums dont equal overall higher efficiency...for example tools get to the field in good time(100% local optimum) but the men in the field are not fast enough to beat the deadline and so the job is delayed(lower overall efficiency) the idea is to work through the constraints

2. The 20/80 Pareto Principle,as good and true as it is, only holds sway where the variables involved are independent. For systems, structures and organisations the variables are all dependent for which we have dependent action/events where the subsequent action is determined and delayed till the preceding action/event.Thus its advisable to always work around the constraint!

This can be found practicable in banking halls, shop floor, hospitals, airline etc

CONNECTIONISM

A recent word i learnt, opened a new vista of meanings to my every day, work and relationship(?) ... now am really serious.

Its a lesson i thot i would like to share with friends so here goes......

Human intelligence was thot to work on logic, but adapting such knowlegde to computer systems it was realised that such systems failed outside their logic bracket

thus further research was carried out ...on the brain ....this was what they found out

......The brain is able to perform as many as two hundred trillion operations in a second, not serially but simulatneously, and this

allows vast amounts of knowledge to be brought to bear on a decision all at once.

The structure behind our intelligence is not arbitrary but dictated at least in part by our need to draw instant conclusions about the world around.

Now this is where connectionism comes in, cos by reason of this the brain can instantly access information from previous experience that seems relevant to the problem at

hand.

But this process now masquerades as logical reasoning, why? we begin to adduce previous experience as rational thoughts or premise to work upon. The brain (from

previous experiences) thus recognizes answers to problems rather than deducing them from facts.

Human memory cant help but connect familiar things. Given just a fraction of information, it instantly amplifies that little piece into sizable parcel of knowledge with seemingly

justifiable conviction that we are right!

Someone will be asking? ...dar! ....what are u saying?

I am faced with a dilemma(or put mildly a situation) and i need to make a decision, based on previous experiences, books read, stories told i simply jump into

conclusions, feeling completely justified....without necessarily checking the facts.

At times such errors are inconsequential and other times consequences are heavy...

For example..........................................................

Building Wealth

I got a perception recentlly that i would like to share and i believe it will benefit you all.

I understand knowledge is progressive and truth is also, ...scripture talks about 'the present truth'

As an individual, in the pursuit of purpose and meaning for my personal life, i started on a quest in

order that i might find fulfilment and be well pleasing to my maker.

And thus i started, instructed in part, persuaded most of the time in the things, activities and

decisions that has brought me to exactly where i am today! my belief when i started was in this

.....path i would find true fulfilment.........very true but i recently also understood that finding true

fulfilment even in life and what we enjoy doing and beleive we were born to do does not

neccesarily equate wealth at the end of the day. This i learnt as we seek fufilment, we also must

traverse a different path in creating wealth.

We can live a fulfilled life, be well pleasing and still be wealthy, scriptures abound with examples

Abraham, Isaac, Job etc. Its a skill that can be learnt and should be learnt.

My quest to understanding and finding wealth started unawares when i read 2 books in one night

The first, Instant Millionaire by Mark Fisher and the second The Richest man in babylon by George

Clason much to divergent views i preferred Mark Fisher's tale, as his emphasis were more of a

mentality and an attitude than a method (which in my own opinion George Clason tilted more to).

One law i beleive that can enable us start off building our wealth is the Law of compound interest.

Where your money over time grows proportionally.

So many investment schemes abound today, but a good number of them simply

increase cash flow than build wealth, this takes time.

I believe if we start now, design a part and follow through, we'll at the end of our time ve truly lived

a fulfilled life and done that wealthy!

Re-evaluate

Some one once said re-evaluation is the engine oil of progress.

Am sure at sometime in our lives we had drawn up plans and goals and strategies too. Some of us might even have had divine impressions for that matter and at such times perceived the direction we ought to go thus devising a pathway.

Regardless, as time goes on I propose the common sense in asking questions, what did we plan out to do in the first place?
What are we doing now?
How far are we to our original intent?
Are our true intents still achievable?

If we must move forward in life, wholesomely, we must in truth at every possible time be sincerely honest with ourselves and be ready to make such changes regardless of what you think people might say, changes that will move us forward in the long run.

Check yourself again, do yourself enough good to admit you were wrong and be courageous enough to want to make it right!

Make that change now, posterity might just have you to thank for it!

The State of the Nation

This is definitely not a 'The state of the nation' broadcast oh no!
Am so sure there is hardly an adult Nigerian that does not have the slightest idea what is going on, particularly with April approaching.

I remember vividly, was that 1997 .....the year Abacha died,i saw little kids (seven to ten yrs old) jumping and jubilating on the street opposite where i lived.

Am quite sure, we have severally dissected and proffered solutions believing it to be the 'genius stroke'

The intent of this post is actually 'The state of my life'

Do we trully know in essence that one good deed we do can go a long way ...i remember a film i watched once(forgotten the name now but the main character was played out by Joel Osment). He had a home work to do, he had to decide on what to do to affect the whole world - he was barely 12.

The other students came up with different designs and projects. This was what he proffered, he would only help two people, who MUST promise to help two other people and MUST request such people help two other people. Initiating this chain it made the network and came right back at him.

Before i begin to sound dis-jointed, this is my poser, how often do we evaluate ourselves, criticize what we are doing and ask ourselves 'where are my heading' with what i am doing now will i end up at my intended destination.

Its so easy to pick on someone than ourselves, can you publicly (especially in the bus!) afford to say am wrong! - being able to do that shows a true sense of growth and maturity (wise words from an indian friend!)

Before we begin to sincerely cry foul at the polity, lets look inward and crave a TRUE fixing from the true FIXER

Nigeria is trully a great nation, because we have you, but lets enjoy what you have to offer ....... RELEASE IT!

Now lets simply practise what has been preached here!
I stayed off publishing posts fro quite a while, i trully am sorry!
I thot of giving my reasons but then i thot again .....excuses are man-made! (mine)

If you just hold up,...it definetly will pull thru!

Now I do have a lovely write up.Got it from a friend. To those going through tough times hold on to these words of courage and strength, cos in truth they were etched in one’s darkest hour and represent the musings from the depth of a heart.

Each day offers something new
For the breaking of a brand new day
In its self, is a gift from God to man
So no matter how bleak y’terday was
Today could just be that day u’ve longed for

So seize today, as if it will never be again
In truth it will never be.
Seize the day, full of zest and hope
Cos its with such attitudes we can
See the silver linings in our dark clouds.

Never relent, keep on pressing on, keep on pushing
Keep on keeping on, have hope in hopelessness
Never say die, for what excuse shall we offer before Him
That being the temple of the Creator of Heaven and Earth
We failed.
Failed! Can God fail?
Am so glad the answer is NO!

Armed with such understanding
I plough and plod through the storm
The blackness and horrors of darkness
Cos even this, is light to Him
Am coming out! That’s my prophetic declaration
Cos I have a date with destiny
……and I intend to keep it

Brave hearts seize the storms
Courage, the trademark of a resolute conviction
In the face of everything negative
He says, ‘I still believe’.
He that waits on you shall not be put to shame
Yes Lord , I trust that that which I heard with
The hearing of mine hears I will see with mine eyes.
He knows the way through the wilderness and
I still choose to follow Him all the way.

Regardless, inspite of all, even though, in the face of all,
Nevertheless, nonetheless, irrespective, although
-I have been beaten, battered, despised, scorned,
frustrated, disappointed, betrayed and hurt
by this passing storm, together with Paul
I said, I have the sentence of death in me,
But even in that I understand that even
GOD can raise the dead!

In the face of all, I still choose to trust God
That He will do what and all He has spoken
In the fullness of time for none in truth shall lack her mate
…….thus I march with His banner over me – LOVE

So hold on and don’t ever give up for you will definitely
Have the last laugh if you hold on.
